Sync engine is already logged in for a different client

Since I seem to get a hit every day regarding the sync engine is already logged in for a different client message that XTNDConnect can generate, I decided to give an update for fellow sufferers.

Frankly, the software is garbage. I don’t know if it’s the Outlook plugins I use (e.g. Plaxo), but I need to manually start Outlook first, lest XTNDConnect crash trying to start it on its own.

The sync process is very fragile. If you kill the app (or it crashes on its own) during the sync process, it leaves its database in a corrupted state. The only choice is to uninstall (remember, the XTNDConnect install process is sensitive to garbage left from previous installations) and reinstall. On first sync, the software always does a slow, full sync, too, which is tedious.

I even went so far as to try zipping what appeared to be the database before every sync (i.e. automated script), and then restoring it if the sync crashed. Unfortunately, that didn’t let things proceed either. Only a full uninstall and reinstall would do the trick for me.

While I like the phone, I now only sync sporadically, when there’s a couple contacts that need updating, or before a trip where I want my freshest contact information. I think it works out to every few months or so. Very disappointed in the software, but I guess if XTND has a monopoly, they have no incentive to improve free, bundled software.

Hot House Cafe

We ended up at the Hot House Cafe after an uninteresting jaunt along Dundas and Church (highly recommend against it). I hadn’t been to the Hot House Cafe in a year or two, and as fortune would have it, the Buskerfest was on. The Hot House Cafe thus had a few special additions to the menu for that weekend.

My entree was a delicious creamy lobster mushroom fettucinie:

My two dining companions has the wild boar pasta, and the cajun pizza:

Samping some boar for the first time, I found that it tasted remarkably like ground beef.

Shared amongst us were the sweet potato fries (with a cajun spice) – better than any other fries I’ve ever had!

Since there were three of us, we were able to get away with two desserts: “Super caramel crackle”, crunchy caramel meringue filled with caramel cream and drizzled with melted butterscotch; The “Naked Truffle”, blood orange sorbet on cocoa powder, and an espresso truffle on a wedge of dark chocolate truffle.

The “Naked Truffle” was the better of the two, incredibly rich as it was. Unfortunately, my chocolate allergies kicked in and I couldn’t even enjoy the one bite that I had. :(

I would look forward to going back to the Hot House Cafe. The available food was much more rich, unusual, and delciious than I remember.
