Italy macro-itinerary

Posted by GJ on August 27, 2007

Still hammering away at the details, but I grow more and more excited as the mundane preparation grows less and less!

Sep 12 Roaming Roma. Touchdown @9am in FCO. Stay at the Little Italy Bed & Breakfast .
Sep 14 Visiting Venezia. Stay at the hostel Hotel Casa Linger.
Sep 15 Foray into Firenze. Stay at the 4-star Kraft Hotel.
Sep 18 Return to Roma. Savour the last of the trip before sleeping at FCO airport.
Sep 19 Touchdown in Toronto, @13:00

Hmm… now that I look at it, I think I see a hole in that plan. What if the Termini train doesn’t run after midnight? What if there’s nothing to do after 11? What if the airport is closed?! More research is in order…

Thank you, Priceline!

Posted by GJ on August 23, 2007

Barely started on the real planning for Italy; don’t even have accommodations for all the legs of the trip, and I fly in 3 weeks!

I’m glad a recent conversation with a friend reminded me about Priceline, though. I’ve always meant to try it, but I always forget about it whenever I travel.

That I’m writing about it, one can easily deduce I got a deal - and what a deal! I’ll be staying at the 3-star Hotel Kraft in Florence for U$80 per night! Priceline’s median for the region was U$340! The hotel’s own website cites €220 per night.

I haven’t been so fortunate for lodgings in Rome or Venice, but here’s to hoping!
